Trash / Recycling

The Solid Waste Division manages city trash collection and disposal, including recycling services, household hazardous waste (HHW) collection, and the HHW Reuse Center. The division provides environmental education and supports a variety of green events and volunteer initiatives in support of the Keep Allen Beautiful board.

The City of Allen contracts with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) to provide all trash and recycling collection services. The City is a member of North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) which manages and operates three solid waste transfer stations and one landfill. These facilities are open to residents for various disposal needs.

Trash, recycling and water service is all billed by the City of Allen. Residents and businesses are required to use City-contracted trash and recycling services. Find more information about these services including setting up new service under Residential Solid Waste Collection, Single Stream Recycling, or Commercial Waste Services.

The Solid Waste Division also publishes the Annual Trash and Recycling Guidelines which is mailed to all residential customers at the end of the year for the following service year. The guidelines include all information related to residential trash and recycling services including the schedule and map outlining collection days for trash and recycling.

Residents are encouraged to keep this guide and refer to it as needed throughout the year.
On the back of the guide, residents will find a coupon for the purchase of Texas Pure compost from the NTMWD Custer Road Transfer Station.

There are two major trash and recycling events each year - the Great American Cleanup and the Allen Recycles Day. These events include electronics recycling opportunities. Find additional information for disposal and recycling of TVs and computers on the Electronics Recycling and Disposal page
