Several programs are held throughout the year on various topics such as AARP Safe Driving Program, Lunch and Learns, Medical Screenings and Seminars. Please refer to the Center-Link newsletter for dates and times for programs listed below.

Monthly Series (Please pre-register at Allen Senior Recreation Center.)


Memory Café — 2nd Monday, 10:15 a.m. to noon, FREE

Socialize, play games and participate in craft activities that are specifically designed to be enjoyable and cognitively stimulating for a client with dementia.  The activities are also designed to be easily and inexpensively repeated at home.  Lee Starks, the Memory Café’ coordinator is a social worker and benefits counselor who has worked in dementia care for over 20 years.

Retirement Living — 2nd Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon, FREE

Alexis Estates Gracious Retirement Living hosts this seminar series. Each seminar will include presenters focusing on issues about Retirement Living.

Medicare & Trivia — 3rd Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon, FREE

Golden Outlook Insurance hosts this seminar series.  Come test your Medicare knowledge and decide if the information provided is trivia or fact.  Each month receive new information, updates and a light snack. Renee Elsner, a licensed insurance broker specializes in Medicare products and services. She is certified with several insurance carriers in North Texas.   All information is kept strictly confidential and appointments can be made to address individual needs. There will be no solicitation or any sales activity at any seminar.

Agri-Life — 4th Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon, $2

Linda Hampton, with Texas A&M Agri-Life Services presents health information regarding the prevention and care for so many issues. Each time there is a healthy recipe demonstration to use in your own home.
